Annual National Night Out Set for Tuesday, August 5, 2014

7:30 PM to 9 PM

Our Young Farm will again join with the Montgomery Police Department in lighting up our neighborhood and promoting National Night Out, a program that began in 1984 to help police-community cooperation, reduce crime and increase camaraderie, among and between neighbors.

Cynthia Harrison, coordinator for 2014 Young Farm’s National Night Out, is urging everyone to turn on all outside lights and get out and walk about the neighborhood on Tuesday, August 5 from 7:30 PM to 9 PM. Take this once-a-year opportunity to meet and greet neighbors you may not have had a chance to get to know before now.

There will be refreshment stands set up in a couple of locations in the community to provide lemonade and cookies. Volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to pitch in and do something for your neighborhood, please contact Cynthia to let her know you will be available to help. Her phone number is 334-274-1135.

National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canada, and military bases worldwide.

Speed Bumps

“Love Bumps” at carefully chosen locations will remind drivers to care for their neighbor’s health and safety. When driving the alleyways, please slow down and avoid having a less-than-pleasant meeting with your neighbors.

Delinquent Dues Can Be a Problem

Just a friendly reminder about HOA dues. All residents must share in the cost of maintaining our neighborhood. Failure to pay dues in a timely manner will result in a lien on the title being filed at the courthouse. The cost of filing and compounding interest at the rate of 10% will increase the cost of the dues, but even worse, people who are delinquent will have a cloud on the title to their home that may hinder a sale. If you are among the few who have not paid your past dues assessments, you might want to immediately write a check payable to “Young Farm Resident’s Association” and send it to Treasurer, YFRA, P.O. Box 231572, Montgomery, AL 36123-1572.  If you are having financial difficulty call the President, Earl Martin.
